The Omen Days — an invitation

Between Christmas and Epiphany (January 6) we enter a liminal time — days that sit slightly outside the usual rhythm of the year.

Traditionally these were known as The Omen Days — a time to notice the signs that might appear. In the Celtic tradition, each of the twelve days was associated with a month in the year ahead. Epiphany is a moment of revelation — a recognition of the essence of the omens, or a pattern or thread from the days coming together.

Straw in the Wind

From December 25 to January 5, I’ll be following the omens, paying attention to the signs that appear — in nature, in everyday encounters, in repeated words or images, and in dreams. Epiphany on January 6 is a time to pause and reflect, letting the omens settle and take shape.

Each day offers a simple invitation to notice what draws your attention and to trust your own inner guidance. This isn’t a time for interpretation or decision-making, but for receiving — allowing the signs to quietly shape the dreams we carry into the year ahead and offer magical signs for us to follow through each month. You might also pull a card or rune if you are busy. The key is to note your omens and the feelings they evoke.

I’ll be sharing my own omens and short daily invitations through my Instagram Stories for anyone who feels called to follow their own magical signs over these special days.

These are called liminal days because they sit on the threshold between years — a time when the old has ended and the new is not yet fully formed.

Much love,
